American strategic experts have expressed concern over the sustainability of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump. The ceasefire, announced May 10, quickly unravelled as reports emerged of continued cross-border hostilities from Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The reactions of India and Pakistan following the ceasefire announcement have been diametrically opposed to one another, which does not bode well for its future sustainment,” said eminent expert Lisa Curtis, who was Trump’s point person for South Asia in his first term 2017 to 2021.
