Indian American practicing physician and Democratic candidate for Congress Dr. Tina Shah announced that she closed out 2025 by crossing the $1 million fundraising mark, raising $1,017,000 and becoming the fastest Democratic candidate in NJ-07 to reach the milestone.

Shah is running for the Democratic nomination in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District and is the only Indian American among several Democrats seeking the party ticket.

She entered 2026 with about $650,000 cash on hand, with the fundraising haul underscoring momentum in her campaign.

Speaking about her campaign, Shah said it aims to lower costs for families, protect reproductive rights and expand access to health care.

“I am so proud of the support our campaign has earned. We need a representative who will lower costs for working families, protect reproductive rights and ensure everyone has access to high-quality health care,” Shah said.

“New Jerseyans are demanding leaders who will put patients over industry profits. Our campaign is fighting to serve hardworking families, not Donald Trump’s billionaire buddies or special interests, and that’s why I will flip NJ-07 in November,” she added.

Shah is an intensive care physician who has dedicated her career to improving the quality of care in New Jersey and across the nation. She has served under three presidential administrations, developing strategies to expand access to health care for veterans and leading the first federal plan to combat burnout that pushed doctors and nurses out of the profession.

In New Jersey, Shah has successfully advocated for legislation that stopped insurance companies from denying care.

As chief medical officer of an artificial intelligence health care company, Shah also led efforts to cut red tape for doctors and nurses, allowing them to focus on patient care and outcomes rather than paperwork.

If elected, Shah would become the first Indian American to represent New Jersey in the U.S. Congress.
