This immigrant mom is “living proof” dreams and duty can coexist

After nearly ten years away from the academic world, an Indian immigrant and mother has successfully completed her doctorate, marking a significant return to her professional career.

Lavanya Muthusamy, a Tamil Nadu native, who is now a postdoctoral researcher in semiconductor design at Clemson University, says her journey is proof that women, especially immigrant mothers, can return to research and thrive in demanding STEM fields.
