Indian-American influencer Priya Patel faced backlash after sharing a video in which she called for the United States to significantly restrict immigration from what she referred to as “third-world” countries.
In the video shared on her X account, the California-based MAGA influencer, said, “Not all cultures are equal. There, I said it. Guess what? All people are created equal under the eyes of God and the law, but not all cultures are equal.”

She added that she did not understand “why it is now a cardinal sin according to the left and some on the right to say this out loud.”
Patel argued that some cultures “embrace things like slavery, underage marriage, polygamy, human sacrifice,” and questioned why the United States should “allow them to come into the United States and we just need to embrace them? No, just no.”

She said “not all immigration is good,” adding that “even legal immigration can be bad,” and attributed US policy choices to what she called “this toxic empathy here in the United States where we think that we just need to allow the entire world to flood our borders and invade our country. However, this is how you cause societal collapse.”
Calling assimilation “a bare minimum requirement,” Patel said that people arriving “en masse… especially from places like the third world” form separate communities, “stay together, and just take over American cities.”
She labeled the trend “civilizational suicide,” saying, “We’re allowing our culture and our norms to be completely eroded. These people are coming here, they’re not assimilating, and then they’re outbreeding us in our own country. And then on top of that, they’re committing violent crimes against American citizens and killing us.”
She concluded that the US must be “incredibly selective on the type of people we allow to come here and how many of them.” Patel also referenced unproven claims about Rep. Ilhan Omar, saying those involved should be “denaturalize[d] and deport[ed].”
Her remarks drew immediate criticism online, with users highlighting her Indian-origin surname and accusing her of hypocrisy.
“So by your definition, we shouldn’t have allowed your family to immigrate to the U.S. from 3rd-world India, right?” one user wrote, adding that Patel seemed “confused who people are talking about when they say they want the ‘3rd world’ out.”
Another user commented on the irony of her surname: “Wild take from someone named Patel. You’d think a family history of immigration would come with a bit more awareness.”
Some users, however, defended her views. One commenter wrote, “Priya is an example of immigration done right… When do you ever hear about Indian immigrants committing crime, murder, or rape? Practically never. If people actually looked at her profile, they’d see she’s Christian and clearly assimilated into our country.”
