Sharing the experience on Instagram, Luxon humorously said, "Getting amongst it at the Sikh Games in Takanini this afternoon with local MP Rima Nakhle. Good luck to all those competing - and to those who end up eating my attempt at making jalebi!"
Netizens regarded the gesture as a display of community bonding and a symbol of respect for the cultural heritage of the Indian community in New Zealand.
