Meghna Tare among finalist for D CEO’s 2025 Energy Awards

Tare joins 33 other finalists who will feature in the Nov. edition of the magazine.

The D CEO Magazine, a leading Texas business publication, has named Indian-American sustainability expert Meghna Tare as finalist for its annual Energy Awards. 

The awards recognize leaders driving innovation in both traditional and renewable energy sectors across North Texas.

Tare, the inaugural chief sustainability and economic development officer at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), was named under the Excellence in Innovation & Sustainability category. 

At UTA, Tare spearheads collaborative efforts across academic, research, and operational departments to promote sustainable practices in energy efficiency, waste management, climate education, and community outreach. 

A recognized thought leader, Tare founded the Regional Center of Expertise for Education in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in North Texas—a program of the United Nations University—and co-founded the North Texas Food Policy Alliance, contributing to food justice and environmental equity. Her influence extends through her active roles on advisory boards such as the National Academy of Sciences, AASHE, ICLEI, and the City of Dallas’ Environmental and Climate Action Plan (CECAP).

Tare was previously honored with the 2022 UNA Global Leadership Award and named a Transformational Leader in Sustainability by Wells Fargo and Envision Charlotte in 2020. She holds a BS from Nagpur University, India, dual MS from, University of San Francisco and San Jose State University, and an MBA from Presidio World College. 

The D CEO Energy Awards celebrate innovation across the traditional and renewable energy sectors. Tare joins 33 other finalists this year who are shaping a resilient energy future during a time of significant transformation in the industry. Her accomplishments will be featured in the November 2025 issue of D CEO Magazine, with an awards ceremony set to take place in October.
