An Indian woman has appealed to the US government and United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to deport her husband.
Samanpreet Kaur made a public appeal to the US authorities on Instagram and alleged that her husband had illegally migrated to the USA in 2022. She claimed that her alleged husband, Navreet Singh, a resident of Fresno, California had claimed that his life was under threat and therefore required asylum in the USA.
In the video posted on Instagram, she shared an image of their marriage certificate and wedding invitation card.
She also claimed that her husband has abandoned not just her but also their seven-year-old daughter, she said, "I can give proof of his fake asylum whenever i am asked. I want justice for me and my daughter. So I request that he be deported for faking asylum."
She also alleged that her husband is marrying someone else for a green card while still being married to her. She said, "he told my father-in-law on 13 December 2024 on wattsapp (WhatsApp) call who then told me. He told my father-in-law himself that he married for (a) green card but i don't know for sure whether he was lying or speaking truth."
She added that he went to the USA as an asylum seeker after failing to reach the USA illegally twice, first via Nepal and then via Africa, with Kaur and her daughter, on both occasions.
Kaur also appealed to other girls in a similar situation and said, "GIRLS LIKE ME, WHO ARE IN THIS TYPE OF SITUATION, PLEASE STAND UP TODAY FOR YOURSELF."
She added, "NOBODY CARE FOR YOU ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU HAVE GIVEN TO THE PERSON YOU MARRIED, YOUR TRUST, YOUR SILENCE, YOUR ENDURANCE, EVEN YOUR SOUL."
