Filmmaker Ben Rekhi has picked up entrepreneurial tips from his father
Rekhi feels there are stories from the Indian American diaspora that need to be told through films.

Ben Rekhi’s career choice as a film director, producer, and scriptwriter eventually received the blessing and support of his father, iconic Silicon Valley entrepreneur Kanwal Rekhi. As the first Indian American to take a venture-backed company public on the Nasdaq, the elder Rekhi was initially somewhat sceptical of the arts.
“I think my father was a little resistant at first,” Ben recollects. “But in high school, after we spent a year on a project and premiered it at our local theatre, my dad was there taking the money and handing out tickets. In that moment, he realized, ‘Oh, maybe there’s a business here.’”
