A fire bomb was thrown at an Indian-origin owner of a check-cashing store, Kulwinder Singh Flora, in a murderous attempt in Falls Church in Fairfax County, Virginia, on May 19.
The store bore the brunt of the explosion, but the owner escaped unhurt thanks to his presence of mind.
Rather, the assailant got hurt and fled from the scene. He threw the bomb at Kulwinder Singh, who instinctively kicked it back to the attacker. The bomb burst close to him, injuring him.
Singh called the police at once. Local police and the fire brigade arrived soon and sealed off the area.
The police chased the attacker in a helicopter and managed to arrest him. He was identified as Christopher Terrol. He is being questioned.
According to information with New India Abroad, more than one fire bomb may have been used. The police probe into the incident will confirm the details.
The reason for the attack is yet unknown. The police have taken up the investigation seriously.
