Diya Mathews to be first woman president of TiE-NJ

The event brought together entrepreneurs and community members to celebrate innovation in New Jersey’s startup ecosystem.

Diya Mathews was announced as the president-elect of TiE New Jersey during the organization’s 2025 Gala and Awards held at The Ashi on June 8. She will be the first woman to lead the organization and will take office this fall.

The event brought together entrepreneurs, professionals, and community members to celebrate innovation and leadership in New Jersey’s startup ecosystem. The evening opened with remarks from gala co-chairs Neetu Randhawa and Priya Kartik.

TiE-NJ president Suresh Kumar addressed the audience, reflecting on the organization’s evolution. “As we face the new frontier of AI,” he said, “TiE-NJ has become a key player in New Jersey’s innovation ecosystem, and the future looks brighter than ever.”

The gala honored several members for their contributions. Jaswinder Chadha, founder and CEO of Axtria, received the Excelsior Award. Jyoti Vazrani, president of Futran Solutions, was named Entrepreneur of the Year. Former TiE-NJ president Badri Nittor was inducted into the Hall of Fame. The TiE NJ Nurture Program was recognized as the Best SIG or Program, and Ioanna Onasi, founder of Dextego.com, received the GRIT Award.

The evening also featured keynote remarks by Teik Lim, president of NJIT, and a fireside chat between Wesley Mathews, CEO of ChooseNJ, and Excelsior Award winner Chadha.

Kumar encouraged members to expand the chapter’s reach. He invited attendees to refer peers for charter membership through the organization’s website.
