This year’s IDY theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” guided the program, which highlighted the integrative power of traditional Indian wellness practices in promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Welcoming the attendees, Consul General Pratik Mathur emphasized the significance of these ancient practices in the modern world. “Yoga and Ayurveda are timeless gifts from India to the world, fostering harmony between mind, body, and spirit. Today’s event reflects our commitment to promoting these ancient practices, which resonate deeply with global audiences seeking sustainable health solutions,” he said.

The gathering featured live yoga demonstrations, discussions on Ayurveda’s role in preventive health, interactive meditation sessions, and an exploration of sattvic cuisine—focused on natural, plant-based nutrition that fosters balance and vitality.

Members of the Indian community reflected on the personal and communal impact of these practices. Tapan Patel from Shanghai called the experience “rejuvenating,” while Neeraj Punhani from Shaoxing praised the Consulate’s commitment to wellness outreach. Residents from Yiwu and Hangzhou echoed their appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate and share India’s holistic health heritage.

The event followed successful IDY yoga sessions organized by the Consulate in cities including Suzhou, Yiwu, Hangzhou, and Shaoxing, drawing strong participation from both Indian diaspora members and local Chinese communities.
