The Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) has named physician Arundathi Reddy the recipient of its 2025 Ruth Olive Beall Award, recognizing her leadership and commitment to, patient-centered care.
The award—named after ACH’s second superintendent—honors a physician who exemplifies the institution’s core values of safety, teamwork, compassion, and excellence.

Reddy serves as chief of pediatric anesthesiology at ACH and professor of anesthesiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Since joining the institution in November, she has led the pediatric anesthesia division, overseeing care in both surgical and non-operating room settings such as MRI, interventional radiology, and radiation oncology.
Reflecting on the honor, Reddy said, “To be honored with such an award is actually not just mine, but it is the work of my team.” She praised her colleagues—including anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, residents, and nurses—for their shared commitment to delivering high-quality care to children.
“We’re here to take care of children—to provide the kind of care we’d want for our own,” she said, capturing the spirit behind her work and the award.
Born and raised in Bangalore, India, Reddy was inspired by her mother, also a physician. Initially trained as an obstetrician-gynecologist, she transitioned to anesthesiology and completed her residency at the University of Kentucky, where she served as chief resident.
She later pursued a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and went on to spend nearly two decades in Kentucky, rising to the rank of full professor and serving as chief of pediatric anesthesia.
Beyond her clinical work, Reddy has been a dedicated educator and mentor, earning accolades such as the Women in Medicine and Science Mentorship Award and the Abraham Flexner Award for Educational Innovation.
