Indian American attorney Anuj Dixit announced his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives from California.
Challenging longtime Republican Congressman Ken Calvert, Democrat and Inland Empire resident Dixit is running in California’s 41st Congressional District, which includes parts of Riverside County.

“In the 30 years since Ken Calvert went to Congress, Washington stopped working for the middle class,” Dixit said announcing his campaign’s commitment to middle-class families and economic fairness.
In his announcement, Dixit outlined his campaign’s priorities, such as to “strengthen the middle class by breaking up corporate monopolies that are raising your costs, stopping corporate PACs from making political contributions, and bringing real change for working families.”
Raised on March Air Force Base in Riverside County, Dixit is the son of immigrants; his father served six years in the U.S. Air Force. He cited the loss of family members in the Pan Am 103 bombing and the post-9/11 era as shaping his drive for justice.
A graduate of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Columbia Law School, Dixit has worked on voting rights litigation, including preparing victims and experts for Congressional hearings, and clerking for a federal judge. His legal career has been marked by efforts to secure representation for disenfranchised communities.
California’s 41st Congressional District, encompassing much of western Riverside County—including cities like Corona, Palm Springs, and Rancho Mirage—is considered a swing district, with a Cook Partisan Voting Index of R+2. Calvert, who has represented the area since 1992, won his 17th term in 2024 with 51.7 percent of the vote, defeating Democrat Will Rollins.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has identified the 41st District as a top target in the 2026 elections.
