AMERICAN SYSTEMS, Virginia-based employee-owned government contractor, has promoted Indian-American executive Srinivas Rautwar as its new chief information officer (CIO).
In his new role, Rautwar will oversee the company’s technology vision, planning, security, and information management across the employee-owned enterprise, which provides mission-essential and information engineering services to U.S. federal customers.

Expressing his commitment to the role, Rautwar said, “I am humbled to continue the legacy of my predecessor, Brian, and honored to have been selected to help drive our company forward. As CIO, my focus will be on leveraging emerging technologies like machine learning and AI, continuing our security-first culture, and ensuring we stay ahead of evolving government compliance requirements.”
Rautwar, who joined AMERICAN SYSTEMS in 2007, previously served as director of information technology operations. With more than 25 years of experience in IT and business process improvement, he has held leadership positions at IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Cognizant Technology Solutions.
Rautwar played a key role earlier this year in helping AMERICAN SYSTEMS achieve the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 with a perfect score, placing the company among a select group of federal contractors nationwide.
“After conducting a thorough search of internal and external candidates, Srinivas was a natural choice to fill this position on our executive leadership team. He is an accomplished senior IT leader with a proven track record of driving enterprise capabilities by leading IT vision, strategy, and large-scale project initiatives,” said John Steckel, president and CEO of AMERICAN SYSTEMS.
Rautwar holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from Sri Venkateswara University, India.
Founded in 1975, AMERICAN SYSTEMS is a 100 percent employee-owned government contractor based in Virginia that provides mission-essential services, information technology, and engineering solutions to federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and the intelligence community. Through its shared ownership model, the company fosters long-term success by aligning employee contributions with organizational growth.
