China linked classified files at center of Tellis case arraignment reset

The indictment establishes that Tellis worked for the State Department beginning in 2001 and later as a contractor for the Department of War, holding a clearance permitting access to TOP SECRET/SCI information.

The federal case against Ashley J. Tellis—centred on highly classified U.S. government documents concerning Chinese nuclear and military capabilities—has drawn diplomatic sensitivities into a prosecution that will now move forward under strict national-security controls, according to filings in federal court.

Tellis’s arraignment has been reset for Dec. 8.
