Indian-origin Chan Patel's State Bank of Texas has been accused of assisting only Indians, as its leadership team is full of Indians, in a post on X by Pamela Hensley that went viral.
Patel founded the State Bank of Texas in 1987.

Hensley took to X and mentioned that the State Bank of Texas, which she claimed is run entirely by an all-Indian leadership team, offers SBA loans almost exclusively to fellow Indians.
She further added that these fellow Indians now monopolize a staggering 89% of all hotel properties in Texas, claiming that ‘everyone is taking advantage of Americans on their own soil now.’

It seems like everyone is taking advantage of Americans on their own soil now.
Hensley also shared the details of the bank leadership, showing that they are all Indians, with the list including Chan Patel, Sushil Patel, Rajan Patel, and Surekha Patel, among others.
From India. It seems the State Bank of Texas serves Indians and not the great people of Texas. pic.twitter.com/JhpjPGWP7b

Hensley’s post comes at a time when online hate towards Indians, especially those residing in the U.S. have seen a significant increase.
While some comments were in support of Hensley’s comments, many expressed their opinions that opposed her perspective, mentioning that there’s no illegality or wrongdoings in what she has mentioned.
One user responded,
“This is a family business… The bank’s founder came to the US as an old-school immigrant with $600. Graduated from Stanford, worked as an engineer. Bought a hotel while working. Bought more hotels. Started a bank to lend to others on his path. Sounds like an immigrant success.”
“Looks like a successful immigrant story; it's a private bank. If you people wanted to sink 2-3 generations into operating motels, you too could own the "State Bank of Texas". I, for one, am just thankful for a cheap roadside motel; if that is thanks to the Patels, great!” said another.
Patel was born in Bombay, India, in 1945 and came to America at the age of 20 to study at Stanford University. In 1976, while managing three jobs, he bought his first hotel and gradually expanded his holdings to a total of 17 hotels.
