BJANA honors Avinash and Geeta Gupta with Lifetime Achievement Awar

They were honored for transformative healthcare and community service across continents.

The Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) conferred its Lifetime Achievement Award on Dr. Avinash and Dr. Geeta Gupta.

Awarded during the organization’s 50th Golden Anniversary and Global Conclave, the honor recognizes decades-long service in healthcare, education, and community empowerment.

For years, the Guptas have delivered essential medical care to underserved tribal and rural populations across Bihar and Jharkhand. Through PRAN-BJANA—a mobile medical initiative run in partnership with ASHA Jharkhand NGO—they have conducted over 115 free camps, offering diagnostics, medicines, and treatment to more than 10,000 patients. Their model integrates in-person services with telehealth consultations from the U.S., greatly improving access to care in remote regions.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple spearheaded vaccination drives in New Jersey, helping over 3,500 Indian Americans, while coordinating virtual consultations and emergency aid in India. Their efforts included setting up a 10-bed COVID Care Center, donating ambulances and oxygen concentrators, and supporting families in crisis.

In 2008, the Guptas established the Dr. Avinash Gupta Foundation to provide scholarships to meritorious but economically disadvantaged students in Jharkhand. They also serve as chair and chief trustee of the Shri Siddhivinayak Temple USA and Indian Cultural Center, which has raised over $2 million for community development.

A former president of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), Dr. Gupta has led the largest India Day Parade outside India and currently serves on the Ocean County Board of Health.
