BJANA celebrates golden jubilee and Bihar Conclave in New Jersey

Programmes noting the diaspora's vast outreach in various sectors were a significant part of the event.

The Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) hosted its Golden Jubilee Celebration and Bihar Conclave on May 24 and 25 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, showcasing the states' rich culture, heritage, and success stories of their dynamic diaspora.

The theme of the event was ‘Celebrating Legacy, Inspiring the Future’. It united participants from North America, India, Europe, Costa Rica, and beyond, making it one of the most significant diaspora gatherings o the region to date.

The inaugural ceremony on May 24 was attended by the Consul General of India in New York, Binaya S. Pradhan, Chief Guest of BJANA 50th year of celebration.  Pradhan commended BJANA’s efforts in showcasing the accomplishments and potential of Bihar and Jharkhand’s people across the globe.

Dr. Kris Singh, Founder & Chairman, Holtec International, Hasmukh Ranjan, Chief Information Officer, AMD and Anand Kumar, Padma Shri awardee and founder of Super 30, were among the notable guests at the event.

The event witnessed participation from community members belonging to various walks of life / BJANA

BJANA President Sanjeev Singh said, “This event marks not only 50 years of BJANA but 50 years of dedication, unity, and relentless spirit of our community. From our founders to our future leaders, every generation has contributed to this vibrant story.”

The celebrations began with the traditional Diya Lighting ceremony. The highlights included a film-tribute to BJANA@50, a District Flag Parade representing every district of both states, a Women Empowerment Panel featuring Sweta Singh, Akshara Singh, and RJ Anjali, alongside Youth Cultural Showcases spotlighting the next generation’s talent.

Programmes noting the diaspora's outreach in various sectors were also part of the event, including Healthcare and AI Summits led by diaspora professionals, a Startup & Investment Conclave with Shark Tank-style pitches, and Leadership Dialogues from academic, tech, and development sectors.

The grand finale comprised a stellar performance by Kailash Kher and Kailasa Band, followed by a special musical segment by Vaishali Jyoti and late-night DJ and networking socials.

Dr. Kris Singh discussed the imoirtance of giving back:and said, “Bihar gave me my roots—America gave me my wings. It is time for us, the diaspora, to become bridges of opportunity between both.”

Notable personalities like Anand Kumar attended the event / BJANA

During the event, Hasmukh Ranjan, CIO of AMD, inspired young attendees with his vision and said, “This community represents limitless potential. Let’s mentor, invest, and scale our collective impact across industries and continents.”

Attendees were immersed in the rich cultural heritage and tourism potential of Bihar and Jharkhand, featuring stunning displays of Madhubani and Sohrai art, tribal jewelry, and local textiles, while promoting iconic destinations like Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Nalanda, Netarhat, and Deoghar. Artisans connected with diaspora investors and entrepreneurs fostered dialogue on sustainable tourism and local economic revival.

Talking about the work of the association, Anand Kumar said, “BJANA’s journey is symbolic of what we can achieve when we stay united and work toward uplifting others. Like Super 30, BJANA is about enabling potential.”
