A blood donation camp was recently organized by the American Punjabi Society (APS) Women's Forum at AsaMai Temple in Hicksville, New York.
Organized in partnership with AsaMai Temple, New York Cancer and Blood Specialists, New York Blood Center, and AAPI-QLI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin – Queens & Long Island), the event saw blood donations from over 50 people.
Dr. Devendra Srivastava, Dr. Abhay Malhotra, Dr. Sunil Mehra, and Dr. Prabhu Mehta, along with Dr. Tarun Wasil were integral to the success of the camp.
The event was led by Navneet Sondhi, Chairperson of the APS Women’s Forum, along with Dilsheet Kaur, Shweta Malhotra, Priyanka Khanna, Binny Kaur, and Swati Anand. Gobind Bhatija and Anju Kakkar represented AsMai Temple and contributed to the success of the event.
The event was supported by the American Punjabi Society. Founder & Global President Gary S. Sikka, Senior Vice President Mohinder S. Taneja, General Secretary Varinder S. Sikka and Vice Presidents Paul Bindra, Ajai Vir Sondhi, Ravinder Narang and Jaspal S. Arora played key roles. The Director of Media & Public Relations Pradeep Tandon and Mohinder S. Chandok's aid was also acknowledged by the organizers.

The Director of Youth Engagement Janessa Sondhi and volunteers Alissa Sondhi, Radhika Sardana, Bhavi Khanna, Mahi Anand and Palwinder Bhatti played key roles in organizing the event.
APS' Global President Sikka and Vice President Sondhi kicked off the camp by donating blood.
Talking about the impact of the Blood Donation Camp, Sondhi said, ”It is heartwarming to see our community respond so strongly to a humanitarian cause. Every donor here has made a difference today, and when we work together, we can create real and lasting impact.”
Sikka described the camp as "a shining example of how partnerships between community organizations can save lives.”
Gobind Bhatija of the AsMai Temple said, “Serving the community is at the heart of our temple’s mission, and it was an honor to open our doors for such a noble cause.”
Dr. Tarun Wasil echoed similar sentiments and added, “Blood is a precious resource, and today’s efforts will directly help patients in need.”
