The Hindu Jewish Wing of Americans4Hindus has issued a statement condemning the recent killing of two young Israeli citizens in Washington, D.C.
“Hatred—whether antisemitism, Hinduphobia, or any form of bigotry—has no place in our communities or in our country. We stand in steadfast solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters during this painful time and call for unity, compassion, and vigilance in the face of hatred,” the organization said in a statement dated May 27.
Sarah Lynn Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum on May 21 when they were shot dead. Shooting suspect Elias Rodriguez has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after being detained at the scene of the incident.
The organization called on all people of conscience, regardless of faith or background, to reject division and choose solidarity.
Dr. Romesh Japra, Founder and Chairman of Americans4Hindus emphasised that “Hindus stand with the Jewish community shoulder to shoulder, not only in response to this heinous act but as a lasting commitment to fight hate together”.
Japra continued: “Let us strengthen the bonds between our communities, honor the lives lost, and rededicate ourselves to building a society rooted in mutual respect and dignity.”
