Ahir Shah bags best show at Edinburgh Comedy Awards
In his show "Ends," Shah expresses that being of immigrant origin in the UK no longer entails being labeled as the "other."

Indian-origin stand-up comedian Ahir Shah's multicultural production Ends won the Sky Best Comedy Show award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Shah is the award's first British-Asian recipient.
The 32-year-old comedian embarked on his journey as a stand-up at the age of 15, had previously earned nominations for the prominent comedy award at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in both 2017 and 2018. He has made appearances on several television panel shows, including Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, in addition to being featured on BBC Radio 4's The News Quiz.
Shah has also achieved numerous sold-out runs at London's prestigious Soho Theatre. His performances have extended internationally, with appearances at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Montreal Just for Laughs festival. He has undertaken tours across continental Europe and India as well.
Notably, Urooj Ashfaq of Mumbai, India, won the best newcomer award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, which is worth £5,000 in cash. Her winning act, titled "Oh No!", consisted of an hour of observational comedy. Ashfaq's performance encompassed both Hindi and English.
