A first-generation hotel owner, Joshi has operated hotels under the Motel 6 and Sonesta brands for nearly two decades. AAHOA described him as a self-made entrepreneur whose career has been built on hard work, entrepreneurship, and a commitment to supporting fellow hotel owners.

Joshi has served as AAHOA's upper midwest regional director for the past three years. He also serves on the association's Government Affairs Committee and has been a member of the G6 Hospitality Owners Advisory Council since 2012.

In his statement entered into the Congressional Record, Krishnamoorthi also recognized Joshi's extensive civic involvement, including his service on the Illinois Governor's Asian American Employment Plan Advisory Council and the SEWA International advisory board.

The congressman also noted Joshi's support for several community organizations and initiatives focused on economic opportunity, small businesses, and community development.

"His contributions to the hospitality industry and to the communities he serves reflect the values of hard work, civic engagement, and opportunity that help strengthen our nation," Krishnamoorthi said in the Congressional Record.

AAHOA president and CEO Laura Lee Blake also congratulated Joshi on the recognition, saying it reflects the broader impact of the association's members.

"Congratulations to AAHOA upper midwest regional director Kalpesh Joshi on being recognized in the Congressional Record by Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi for his leadership in the hospitality industry and his commitment to community service," Blake wrote in a LinkedIn post.

Blake described Joshi as "a respected hotelier and entrepreneur" who has spent nearly two decades in the hospitality industry while serving fellow hotel owners through his leadership within AAHOA.

She added that his dedication extends beyond business through his longstanding commitment to civic engagement, public service, and expanding opportunities in the communities he serves.

"This Congressional recognition highlights the impact AAHOA Members have every day, not only within the hospitality industry but also across their local communities," Blake said, inviting members to join AAHOA in congratulating Joshi on the honor.
