Reflecting on the recognition, Kidambi said, “I’m still feeling overwhelmed with gratitude. To be seen in this way by a community I respect and love so deeply is something I will carry with me forever. I’m so thankful for every professor, mentor, classmate, and friend who has inspired and supported me on this journey.”
“As I look ahead to what’s next, I’m filled with excitement for the future and hope to continue making a positive impact, wherever the road leads,” Kidambi, who will attend the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences this fall said. She was also accepted into the U.S. Navy’s Health Professions Scholarship Program and will commission into the Navy this summer.
Throughout her four years at SBU, Kidambi demonstrated dedication to the university community. She was a certified emergency medical technician (EMT) with the university’s medical emergency response team, completing over 1,300 hours of service and serving as first lieutenant during her sophomore year. She also served on the community coordinated response team (CCRT), advocating against sexual and dating violence on campus.
Kidambi’s academic accomplishments include research on “forever chemicals” with Dr. Scott Simpson and leadership in maternal and fetal health studies under Dr. Adam Brown, who called her a “competent and driven leader.”
“She consistently displayed high-level leadership skills, competence, drive and motivation. This is complemented by her friendly demeanor and ability to manage those who worked with her,” Brown said.
An active member of the student government association, Kidambi served as class senator for three years and executive treasurer this year, contributing to multiple campus committees. She was also involved in ASIA (Asian Students in Action), Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and the award-winning Power Yoga Club.
