Trump: Alaska Meeting with Putin Is Prelude to Ukraine Peace Talks

US President Donald Trump on Aug.14 previewed his upcoming Alaska meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, describing it as the first step in a two-stage process aimed at securing peace in Ukraine.

“This meeting sets up the second meeting,” Trump said at the White House. “The second meeting is going to be very, very important because that’s going to be a meeting where they make a deal.”
