According to Indian defence sources, Operation Sindoor targeted infrastructure facilities linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), the two dangerous terror organizations which have been operating from Pakistani territory.
Four targets of Jaish-e-Mohammed, three of Lashkar-e-Taiba and two of Hizbul Mujahideen terror groups were hit. Here are details of the targets:
Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur – JeM (Bahawalpur is across the Rajasthan border across the Thar desert; it is a Jaish-e-Mohammed base. The terror outfit is led by Maulana Masood Azhar, among three terrorists India swapped in exchange for the passengers of Indian Airlines flight IC-814, hijacked in December 1999.)
In Bahawalpur, reportedly the epicentre of JeM’s operations, Indian strikes hit the Subhanullah mosque complex in the Ahmed East area, claimed to be the centre for militant recruitment and training.
Muzaffarabad and Kotli: the information is that these two are the chief centres for infiltration of terrorists into Jammu & Kashmir in India from inside Pakistan.
Gulpur, Bhimber, Bagh, Chak Amru, and Sialkot are reported to be support centres for the terror outfits. .
Indian authorities said the nine locations were selected based on “actionable intelligence”.
