The Trump administration has agreed to a settlement allowing Badar Khan Suri, a postdoctoral fellow at Georgetown University, to return to his work at the university and have his legal status reinstated. The settlement, filed in federal court on Aug.5, ends the administration's efforts to deport Suri, who had faced accusations of promoting Hamas propaganda and being connected to a known terrorist.
Suri, an Indian national, had been arbitrarily detained earlier this year as part of a wave of arrests targeting pro-Palestinian demonstrators. In March, the government terminated his records in the Department of Homeland Security’s database, claiming without evidence that he had been involved in spreading Hamas propaganda on Georgetown’s campus.
