Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, starring Keanu Reeves, coming this fall

Ansari wrote the script and will co-star in the upcoming R-rated comedy.

Aziz Ansari is set to make his directorial debut with ‘Good Fortune’, starring Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen along with Ansari himself.

Written and directed by Aziz Ansari, the film will be in theatres from Oct.17.

The upcoming R-rated comedy follows an angel named Gabriel (Reeves), who tries to show a struggling gig worker, Arj (Ansari), that money can’t buy happiness by swapping his body with his wealthy employer, Jeff (Seth Rogen). Chaos unfolds when Gabriel’s plan backfires.

While speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Ansari addressed why he decided to make a comedy movie and said, “I had been doing some more dramatic work recently and I really wanted to make a comedy and I wanted it to be in theatres.”

He added, “I don’t buy into this thing that theatrical comedies aren’t a thing”, while presenting the first look of his movie at CinemaCon.

Commenting about his co-star Keanu Reeves, Ansari said, “He actually is an angel, this is the first time he’s gotten to play his true form.”

Sandra Oh, Keke Palmer, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Carli Shayne, Eliza Shin, and Olivia Summers are also part of the upcoming movie.
