New India Abroad Internship Program

 

New India Abroad is seeking students for our 2024 internship program. We are looking for college juniors, seniors, and graduate students enrolled in a degree program. This is a great opportunity for budding journalists to explore career interests, and gain hands-on experience. This is an unpaid internship and the application deadline is December 15th, 2023.

 

The Role:

We are looking to fill multiple roles. It is not necessary to have an Indian/South Asian background to be considered for these roles. We firmly believe that our mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcome.

Reporters: Writing for the web is highly valued. We are looking for a self-starter, a storyteller. We value clear and to-the-point writing. We encourage you to let us know your subject preference, i.e. politics, bilateral trade, community, technology, arts and science, Bollywood/Hollywood etc.

Visual Reporters: Photographers, videographers, graphic designers, or editors who have the ability to tell a story visually.  

Media analytics: Anyone who is interested in tracking and reporting media analytics. You will be required to track New India Abroad’s numbers on all platforms and present all the data in an easy-to-understand manner for the C-suite decision-makers. At times present the data to potential partners, advertisers, and sponsors.

Requirements:

  • Genuine interest in storytelling and learning about new cultures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct in-person or online interviews.
  • Collaborative nature and willingness to deliver under tight deadlines.

Workload: Up to 20-30 hours per week. Students should have their own computer to write, edit, and
publish.
