LEGION is part of the Bentley Systems solutions offering and is focused on understanding people movement. Our scientifically validated software accurately simulates and analyses people’s step-by-step journey through infrastructure. Rail/metro stations, stadia, shopping malls and airports managers work with us to model, test and deliver operational, commercial, footfall, wayfinding, crowd management and safety/security strategies. Cities around the world are growing at unprecedented rates, putting infrastructure operators under pressure to provide safer and more eﬃcient public venues within budget constraints. The key goal of a Legion project is to optimise the use of space, directly translating into improved safety, efficiency and revenue. LEGION simulator is based on extensive scientific research of people behaviour in real contexts. As it microscopically accounts for individual decision making, crowd formation and patterns of movement emerge naturally. The algorithms are patented, and simulation results have been validated against empirical measurements, qualitative studies and by over two decades of application worldwide. Transport agencies (London, Santiago, Beijing and many others), events (London2012, Brazil2014, Rio2016, etc) and their respective suppliers (AECOM, Atkins, Systra, etc) have been working with Legion for over 20 years to iteratively design – on a BIM compliant environment – test and operate infrastructure from the drawing board to legacy delivery.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Digital Experience Engineering Portals Team. This is a great opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud platforms within Microsoft Azure and the latest UI technologies, while building robust and reusable React components and backend APIs for our Portals.

Responsibilities

Design and develop front-end webpages and backend services.
Collaborate with the team in an agile, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) software development process.
Demonstrate a commitment to writing testable, maintainable, and scalable code while actively giving and receiving feedback.
Take ownership of key products and features - from software design to project planning and deployment.
Provide support and mentorship to other software engineers by providing advice, coaching, and educational opportunities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or software engineering from a recognized institute.
At least 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
Strong conceptual and practical foundation of core Computer Science concepts including Algorithms, Data Structures, Operating Systems, and Object-Oriented Programming.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly to maximize productivity.
Self-motivated person with the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment and in an ownership and results-oriented culture.
Strong programming concepts and knowledge of C#, JavaScript, and Typescript.
Knowledge of distributed version control system like Git.
Working experience of Azure DevOps and Agile Development methodologies like SCRUM.
Strong understanding of HTTP.

Essential Skills

5+ years of proven experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current web systems.
Strong programming concepts and knowledge of C#, JavaScript, and Typescript.
Excellent problem-solving ability.
Experience with automated testing tools such as Jest, Playwright, and Selenium.
Experience with any of the following frameworks or libraries: React, AngularJS, .NET Framework (including .NET Core), TypeScript / JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Webpack, Babel, Gulp.
Experience in consumption of cloud services and REST Interfaces.
Strong understanding of HTTP.
