Purdue researcher develops system to improve self-driving sensors

Indian-origin researcher Somali Chaterji has developed a new system designed to improve how machines detect objects in real time using lidar technology, particularly when computing resources are limited.

Chaterji, an associate professor of agricultural and biological engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, led the team that created 'AGILE3D', a 3D object detection system that adjusts its operation based on the available computing power and the complexity of the surrounding environment.
