Heavy rains in New York kill two, disrupt flights

Vehicles and commuters battle through flooded streets as heavy rain soaks New York City :: Mariah Whitmoyer :: New York :: October 30, 2025 :: Officials said areas including Central Park and LaGuardia Airport saw record rainfall Videos show vehicles submerged and driving through floodwaters, bringing major disruptions for New York City commuters. In a post on X, the NYC Emergency Management said some areas saw record-breaking rainfall, with 1.80 inches recorded in Central Park—surpassing a 1917 record—and 1.97 inches at LaGuardia Airport, breaking the previous record set in 1955. New York City Emergency Management urged residents to avoid flooded streets and to stay clear of downed trees and power lines. The National Weather Service issued a wind Advisory for all five New York boroughs through midnight on Friday
