Arkansas Democrats are HONORED to announce that Vice President Kamala Harris will deliver the KEYNOTE ADDRESS at our 2026 Fisher Shackelford Dinner in Little Rock

“We are so honored for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I could not be more grateful that Vice President Harris chose Arkansas for her first keynote speech following the 2024 election,” Cotton said.
Cotton added that Harris “most embodies the spirit” of the Fisher Shackelford Dinner and said there would be “no one better to keynote this incredible event and celebrate our remarkable honorees.”
The Fisher Shackelford Dinner, first launched in 2014, is one of the Arkansas Democratic Party’s major annual fundraising and recognition events. It was created to honor the legacies of Lottie Shackelford, the first Black woman elected mayor of Little Rock, and Jimmie Lou Fisher, Arkansas’ longest-serving state treasurer.
Over the years, the dinner has served as both a political gathering and a fundraising platform for Arkansas Democrats, while recognizing women seen by the party as influential figures in Arkansas public life.
Harris’ appearance comes as Democrats in Arkansas continue efforts to rebuild visibility and organizational strength in a state where Republicans dominate statewide politics. Her visit is likely to draw broader national attention to the party’s fundraising and mobilization efforts ahead of the 2026 midterm election cycle.
In its announcement, the party highlighted Harris’ tenure as the 49th vice president of the United States, noting that she cast more Senate tie-breaking votes than any vice president in U.S. history.
It also pointed to her work on issues including reproductive rights, maternal health, gun violence, student debt, economic opportunity, child poverty, and U.S. alliances abroad.
Harris made history as the first woman, first Black American, and first South Asian American to serve as vice president.
Tickets for the April 25 event are being sold through the party’s fundraising platform, according to the announcement.
