IA Impact, in a post on X, said it was “beyond excited” to have Govindan lead the evening, which will feature keynotes, entertainment, and cultural programming. The 28-year-old stand-up comedian and aspiring television writer based in New York City made her debut at Caroline’s on Broadway in December 2017 at the age of 20 and rose to prominence after going viral online the following year.
Since then, she has built a following of more than 300,000 across social media platforms and has opened for comedians Hasan Minhaj, Daniel Sloss, and Russell Peters. She has headlined sold-out shows in major U.S. cities and made her international debut in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Her recent one-woman show, How to Embarrass Your Immigrant Parents, explores themes of mental health, immigrant family dynamics, and cultural identity. Directed by Greg Walloch and presented by Hasan Minhaj, the show has been performed in Houston, Austin, and other cities and is set for an off-Broadway run.
Govindan has also used her platform to advocate for diversity in television and film, as well as to speak candidly on issues ranging from mental health stigma to anti-caste discrimination.
The Gala tickets start at $250, and the current registration fee for the two-day summit is $100. Students and young leaders can get a discounted $25 ticket.
