A video showing a man tearing an Indian national flag outside Frisco City Hall in Texas while members of a crowd chanted anti-India slogans has sparked outrage on social media and renewed concerns over anti-Indian rhetoric in the United States.

The incident, which took place during an anti-immigration demonstration in Frisco was widely shared on X and other social media platforms. The footage shows a man ripping apart the Indian tricolour as onlookers cheered, clapped and shouted slogans including "F*** India."

The individual was identified online as Clayton Walker, a Texas resident. In the video, Walker is heard repeatedly shouting anti-India slogans before tearing the flag. Demonstrators at the gathering reportedly described their protest as opposition to what they called an "Indian immigration invasion" in Texas.

The controversy deepened after screenshots of Walker's social media activity began circulating online. According to posts shared by users, Walker later posted a photograph of himself tearing the flag and wrote, "The Indians are making AI of me now. Why are you so mad it's just a flag."

The incident comes amid ongoing debates around immigration and demographic changes in parts of Texas, including Frisco, which has seen significant growth in its Indian-origin population over the past decade. Many Indian immigrants in the region work in technology and other skilled professions, including through the H-1B visa program.

Social media users also highlighted Walker's apparent association with online commentators known for anti-immigration views. Among them was right-wing influencer Elijah Schaffer, who posted on X shortly before the video gained widespread attention, claiming that "INDIANS HAVE TAKEN OVER FRISCO, TX."

In the same post, Schaffer referred to Indians as "3rd world invaders," drawing criticism from users who accused him of promoting hostility toward Indian-origin communities.

The video triggered strong reactions online, with many users condemning the destruction of the flag and the anti-India slogans.

"A nation's worth isn't defined by those who insult its flag," one user wrote on X. Another said, "Indians on H-1B are legally here filling skilled tech roles US companies hire for."

Other users called for constructive debate on immigration issues rather than acts targeting national symbols. "Disrespecting a flag doesn't weaken a nation, it only reveals the mindset of the person doing it," one post said. Another user wrote, "Ripping a flag won't fix policy issues—have a constructive conversation instead."

Last year, American right-wing commentator Matt Forney drew criticism after making inflammatory remarks about Indians in the United States and calling for their deportation. His comments were widely condemned as xenophobic and discriminatory.
