Indian-American New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar has received three major endorsements from Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, State Senator Joe Addabbo, and Council Member Lynn Schulman for her re-election to the New York State Assembly for the 38th District, a seat she has held since 2021.
Rajkumar, who is the sitting representative for Assembly District 38, challenged incumbent Jumaane Williams in 2025 for the role of New York City Public Advocate but lost the Democratic primary in June last year.

Following that loss, Rajkumar is seeking to retain her original seat in the State Assembly for the upcoming 2026 election cycle.
She is currently facing a primary challenge from the left by David Orkin, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
Rajkumar took to her official X account and announced these three endorsements with Heastie, Addabbo, and Schulman heaping praise and expressing their confidence in her campaign.
Rajkumar also announced that she has raised $132,973, powered by grassroots support, which she mentioned to be four times more than her opponent.
