Indian-origin man killed in Jackson armed robbery

A 56-year-old Indian-origin man was shot dead during an armed robbery in Jackson, Mississippi.
Suresh Patel was killed in the shooting that occurred Aug. 20 at Ridgecrest Cellars, located at 2880 Ridgecrest Road.

At approximately 9 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding a robbery and shooting at the business.
According to witnesses, an unidentified suspect entered the establishment, brandished a weapon and demanded cash from employees.
After taking money from an employee, the suspect fired multiple shots, striking one of the store employees. The victim was found deceased, Jackson police said in a statement.
The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a gray hoodie, jeans and black work-style boots. His face was covered with a paintball-style mask, and he was seen fleeing the business in a white sedan.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Jackson Police Department. Callers to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous, it said.
