Indian-origin man arrested in Canada for threatening with fake gun

An Indian-origin man was arrested in Canada after allegedly following a transit rider in Brampton and threatening him with what police later said was an imitation firearm.
Jagdeep Singh, a 20-year-old resident of Brampton, was taken into custody following the incident, which occurred at around 1 a.m. on Dec. 27, near the intersection of Chinguacousy Road and Drinkwater Road.

According to investigators, the victim had exited a transit bus when Singh allegedly began following him and claimed he was in possession of a firearm. The victim contacted police shortly afterward.
Officers located Singh a short distance from the scene, police said. During their interaction with him, Singh allegedly produced an imitation gun and threw it into a nearby snowbank.
Police said a search of Singh led to the seizure of additional items, including a backpack containing bundles of rope, rolls of tape, gloves, and two knives.
Peel Regional Police said Singh was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and conspiracy to commit an indictable offense. He was held pending a bail hearing. The charges have not been tested in court.
The incident occurred during a weekend that saw heightened concern over public safety on transit systems across parts of the Greater Toronto Area, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours.
