Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is leading an early poll of potential 2028 Democratic presidential contenders, amid renewed attention on her political future.

According to the national survey by Rasmussen Reports, conducted between Jan. 25 and Jan. 27, among 1,155 likely U.S. voters, if the 2028 Democratic primary were held today, 34 percent of likely Democratic primary voters would support Harris.

California Governor Gavin Newsom followed with 20 percent support. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were tied at 10 percent each.

New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez received 7 percent support, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker polled at 6 percent, and Maryland Governor Wes Moore stood at 3 percent.

The polling comes as Harris has drawn renewed public attention after reactivating and rebranding one of her key campaign-era social media accounts.

On Feb. 5, Harris relaunched the account formerly known as KamalaHQ under the name @headquarters_67, a reference to a youth-focused online meme. The account had been dormant since November 5, 2024, the day Republican nominee Donald Trump won the presidential election.

Harris, who was the Democratic presidential nominee in 2024, lost the general election after then-President Joe Biden withdrew from the race in July that year. She has since remained active in public life, including promoting her book 107 Days, a reference to the length of her abbreviated 2024 campaign.

She has not yet declared her intention to run for office.
