Gates was received by Lokesh at Gannavaram Airport along with senior Cabinet colleagues.
Gates, along with Andhra Pradesh ministers, proceeded to the state secretariat for discussions on strengthening cooperation in health, agriculture, education and technology-driven governance initiatives.
Lokesh mentioned that the state is focusing on working closely with the Gates Foundation to create significant and impactful solutions for public welfare across sectors.
Naidu has urged Gates to extend ongoing health initiatives across the state, and discussions on AI are also expected to follow.
The Gates Foundation is already involved in health-related projects in Kuppam in Chittoor district, and the talks are expected to focus on scaling up these interventions to further help the masses across Andhra.
Reports have suggested that Gates will also proceed to the Real Time Governance System (RTGS) to review the use of technology in governance, followed by Naidu showcasing the system’s procedures and results.
Naidu will also reportedly give a presentation on the “Swarna Andhra 2047” (Golden Andhra) vision and the reforms undertaken in various sectors, including med-tech, diagnostic services and Sanjeevani, a health record digitisation programme.
Following the engagements at the secretariat, Gates and his team will visit a farm in Undavalli village in Amaravati, where he will observe the use of drones and AI technology.
Municipal Minister P. Narayana previously mentioned that Gates’ visit to Andhra follows an invitation by Naidu to further strengthen collaboration with the state government.
