Swastika closer to exemption under Canada hate bill

Community groups have expressed support for the Canadian House of Commons’ decision to strengthen anti-hate laws while removing the swastika from the list of prohibited symbols, paving the way for the bill to advance to the Senate.
Bill C-9, known as the Combating Hate Act, proposes new Criminal Code offenses, including one that would criminalize the intentional public promotion of hatred against identifiable groups through hate-related or terrorism-related symbols.
