INDICA had announced to honor two Indian American scholars, Arvind Sharma and Ramesh Rao, on Guru Purnima through its flagship program Grateful2Gurus. Grateful2Gurus, a program that represents the pinnacle of our annual initiatives, said Kumar, creating a sacred space for individuals and communities to honor the wisdom imparted by their Gurus, is a significant event in our calendar.
Arvind Sharma is currently the Birks Professor of Comparative Religion at McGill University. In 2025, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contributions to religious scholarship and interfaith understanding.
Ramesh Rao has taught communication in the United States since 1987. His research and writing, which have focused on Indian society, politics, and ancient communication theories, have been a beacon of knowledge. Rao has authored several books and written more than a hundred op-eds published in India, the UK, and the US. He is also the editor of India Facts, a platform that promotes discussions around Hinduism and Indian culture.
Felicitations for Prof. Arvind Sharma will be held at a separate event.
