Indian Americans attend Sen. Reed's spring breakfast

Community leaders discussed civic engagement and collaboration during the annual gathering in Cranston, Rhode Island.

An Indian American delegation joined U.S. Senator Jack Reed at his annual Spring Breakfast held at the historic Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, bringing together political leaders, and community representatives from across Rhode Island and New England.

The Indian American delegation, led by Amrut Patel and Deena Patel, included Sumesh Hirway, Rakesh and Aditi Soni, Rakesh Kavsari, Girish Soni, Hardik Patel, Sanjay Gokhale, and Abhishek Singh.

According to organizers, the event focused on leadership, collaboration, and strengthening relationships among diverse communities in the region.

During the gathering, attendees interacted with Rhode Island Congressman Gabe Amo, Congressman Seth Magaziner, Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos, East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva, Karina DaSilva, and Rhode Island General Treasurer James A. Diossa.

The delegation also met Shruthi Purushotham, Boston’s first Deputy Consul General of India, along with entrepreneurs Jaymin Patel and Kinnari Patel and other guests involved in community service and public engagement.

Senator Reed’s annual breakfast, held each spring in his hometown of Cranston, has for decades served as a gathering point for Rhode Island Democrats, civic leaders, and advocacy groups. Previous editions of the event have drawn large crowds from across the state and wider New England region.

Reed, Rhode Island’s senior U.S. senator since 1997 and currently the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, is seeking reelection in 2026.
