The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA)-Canada is organizing 'SURAKSHA: Combating Hinduphobia & Addressing Hate Crimes', an interactive session on Aug. 24.

CoHNA is a grassroots advocacy and civil rights group dedicated to representing the Hindu community in North America. It focuses on safeguarding the community’s collective interests by addressing their challenges and raising public awareness about Hindu heritage and traditions.

Organized in collaboration with Montreal Police, the session seeks to empower Montreal’s Hindu community to stay informed, safe and proactive against hate crimes.

Starting at 2 PM EST, the session would cover key dimensions like the difference between a hate crime and a hate incident, what to do when facing or witnessing a hate crime and how to help the Police bring perpetrators of such crimes to justice, along with addressing other key concerns.

Held at the Centre culturel et communautaire Sanaaq in Montreal, the session also aims to build stronger ties with the law enforcement while sharing the real-life consequences of Hinduphobia on immigrant communities.
