Chicago Hindu Women's Network hosts wellness, community event

About 130 attendees joined discussions on women's health, community service and wellness at Schaumburg gathering.

The Chicago Hindu Women's Network brought together about 130 attendees for its "Women, Wellness & Community" event on June 28 in Schaumburg, Illinois, featuring talks on women's health, oral hygiene, community service and cultural performances. The event was co-hosted by National India Hub and drew participants ranging from high school students and young professionals to community leaders.

The program began with a traditional welcome and registration, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting by Vaidya Deepti Suri, Archana Agrawal and Dr. Mohini Gupta. Kruti Patel and Pinu Dhruna led the prayer, and chapter chair Yashaswini Desai welcomed attendees before an introductory video about the Hindu Women's Network was shown.

The event's keynote presentation was delivered by Vaidya Deepti Suri, a seventh-generation practitioner and NAMA-certified Ayurvedic doctor. She spoke about women's health and holistic living, emphasizing the importance of Din Charya (daily routine) and Ritu Charya (seasonal routine).

Suri discussed maintaining discipline in everyday life, food preparation practices and the role of Panchakarma treatments in Ayurveda. She also shared insights from her work at Yogveda Clinic in Hinsdale, Illinois.

Dr. Mohini Verma addressed the relationship between oral health and overall well-being. She stressed the importance of maintaining daily oral hygiene and encouraged regular dental care, recommending routine dental visits twice a year.

Archana Agrawal spoke about community service through her foundation, describing its efforts to help couples in need by supporting Hindu weddings. She outlined what she described as the foundation's "Four Pillars of Service" and discussed its community outreach initiatives.

Bhavini Patel, a village trustee from Bolingbrook, Illinois, spoke about civic engagement and community service. She highlighted her work supporting the Indian community in Chicago's southwestern suburbs and discussed her role as founder of the Sanskriti Foundation, which promotes Sanatan heritage. Patel encouraged attendees to become more involved in community service.

The event also featured two dance performances by high school students. Kashvi Pandit performed a classical dance centered on devotion and welcoming a loved one home, while Ana Rathi presented a Punjabi dance performance. The program was emceed by Riddhi Vyas, a young professional who advocates for encouraging girls to pursue careers in science.

During the closing session, Yashaswini Desai thanked representatives from National India Hub and several community organizations, including Hindu Vivah, the Federation of Indian Associations, Indian Seniors of Chicago, United Parivaar, A4H, the BAPS Ladies Group, VHPA, HSS, Diaspora Connect, Flextron and the A3N Media Team.

Certificates were presented to the speakers and performers by Sadhana Shinde, Krutiben Patel, Radhika Desai, Seema Verma and Sushmaben Patel.

Attendees concluded the event with refreshments, including healthy snacks and buttermilk.

Reflecting on the gathering, attendee Jesal Patel of BAPS said, "A wonderful first Hindu Women Network experience for me! As an internal medicine physician, I found the presentations on Ayurvedic medicine, dental health, and Hindu marriage initiatives both engaging and informative."

"Dance numbers with young ladies was a nice touch. Hats off to the volunteers for an outstanding event and the delicious food & networking opportunities!" she added.
