While about half of the survey respondents favor deporting immigrants charged with misdemeanors, only 35 percent support deporting all undocumented immigrants.

Seventy-one percent of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) adults disapprove of President Donald Trump’s handling of immigration, according to a new nationwide poll by AAPI Data and The Associated Press–NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. The survey shows that AAPI adults give Trump significantly lower marks than the general public on major issues including immigration, the economy, and foreign policy.

The survey, conducted between Sept. 2 and 9, 2025, found that 71 percent of AAPI adults disapprove of Trump’s handling of immigration, up from 58 percent six months earlier. Nearly two-thirds said his deportation policies “have gone too far". Only a small share supports aggressive enforcement tactics such as targeting immigrant neighborhoods or using the military to assist in arrests.
