Yale University hosted a two-day conference on Sept. 4–5, 2025, to discuss the forthcoming sixth edition of the ‘Handbook of Development Economics’, a series first co-edited by Indian economist T. N. Srinivasan in 1988. The volume, set for publication in 2026, will be edited by Yale professors Rohini Pande and Pinelopi Goldberg alongside Princeton’s Pascaline Dupas, continuing a tradition that Srinivasan established nearly four decades ago.

Thirukodikaval Nilakanta Srinivasan, known widely as T. N. Srinivasan, was the Samuel C. Park Jr. Professor of Economics at Yale, where he also chaired the department. A leading figure in the discipline for over 50 years, he co-edited the first three volumes of the Handbook, shaping it into a central reference for development economics.
