Jiva Dance will present the New York premiere of Lessons From My Mothers, a new evening-length production blending Bharatanatyam, theater, and spoken word, on Nov. 7 and 8 at Gibney – Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center in Manhattan, a media release said Sept.9.

The work, created and performed under the direction of Artistic Director Sonali Skandan, explores the intergenerational journeys of South Asian immigrant women who came to the United States in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
