California-based Freestyle Digital Media, a division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has released the coming-of-age family comedy Curry Scent for streaming on all North American digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms, as well as on DVD, from Nov. 22.
Written by Nisha Sabharwal and directed by Christa Boarini, Curry Scent narrates the story of an Indian immigrant family navigating life in Florida while pursuing the American Dream.
The narrative centers on Geetha, a 19-year-old daughter of an eight-member family, as she tackles dating and cultural integration to secure her future. The film portrays the struggles and joys of immigrant life, blending comedy with serious themes of identity and belonging.
“CURRY SCENT is told from the eyes of my own immigrant journey. The ensemble cast includes Nisha’s daughter Indigo Sabharwal as Geetha, Sameer Khan, Anita Sharma, and Nirvan Patnaik. The production team features Mohit Sabharwal, Cameron Brumbelow, Bobby Marinelli, and Melissa McNerney.
The film has been described by critics as a feel-good romantic comedy with universal appeal, resonating with viewers of all ages and backgrounds.
