Christopher Nolan made a subtle nod to Indian craftsmanship at the New York premiere of The Odyssey, wearing a custom Ajrakh silk tie.

Designed by a New York-based Indian-origin designer, Aahaan Tandon, the tie features Ajrakh, a centuries-old Indian hand-block printing tradition renowned for its intricate geometric motifs, natural dyes and multiple stages of resist printing.

The accessory stood out as a quiet expression of India's textile heritage, complementing Nolan's signature understated style while bringing one of the country's oldest craft traditions to an international red carpet.

Highlighting the design on social media, Textiles and Art of the People of India (TAPI) described the collaboration as "a meaningful touch of Indian craftsmanship."

"Christopher Nolan's signature look got a meaningful touch of Indian craftsmanship; a small detail that made quite a statement," TAPI wrote.

The organization said Ajrakh’s  “appearance on a global red carpet is a reminder that exceptional craftsmanship transcends borders, carrying India's textile legacy to the world.”

A Master of Fine Arts student in Fashion Design and Society at Parsons School of Design, Tandon is the founder and creative director of his eponymous label. He graduated from the school with a  Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design and Film Production.
