Air India debuts first retrofitted A320neo, kicking off fleet renewal drive

Air India has welcomed its first retrofitted narrowbody aircraft back into service, signaling a significant milestone in the airline's ambitious transformation plan under the Tata Group. The A320neo, registration VT-EXN, represents the first of 27 legacy aircraft to undergo a complete interior upgrade, part of a $400 million investment to modernize the airline's fleet.
The aircraft, which underwent a comprehensive retrofit last year, now features a refreshed cabin with new seats, carpets, curtains, and a three-class configuration, all reflecting Air India's new branding and livery. It will operate on domestic and short-haul international routes, alongside 14 recently delivered new A320neos.
